Mentoring

Why Mentoring?

Our goal with mentoring is to inform middle school students about the intricacies of high school life by creating a personalized and comfortable environment through direct interactions with our high school mentors and middle school students. Through these meetings, the mentors will be able to make a greater impact than only using newsletters and have a stronger connection with the students!

Meeting Format

We plan to have all participating middle school students to meet at either Townsend Harris or Brooklyn Technical High School, where they will be quickly updated on any new announcements/updates, and then split into separate classrooms with high school mentors (3:10 ratio of Mentors: Mentees) where the mentors will then present slides or any other materials they may have prepared. During this meeting, the Mentees will be free to ask any questions, and after the main meeting is over, they can stay for any supplementary meetings if they plan to attend.

Specific mentors can choose to hold independent supplemental meetings which can range from preparatory classes of middle school or high school topics to introduce new ideas. Ask your mentor if they have any supplemental activities planned or request some by reaching out!

Meeting Times

Currently, our meetings will typically be on the last Friday of each month from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Additional online supplemental meetings will be announced in our main meetings. The sign-up form for these meetings will be provided through email.
